Pamela A. Nelson (Koprowski)

I really cannot remember how Char and I linked up, but we were both passionately interested in maritime travel. I had joined a Mariner Scout troop (this information not to have been shared with the LT class - stigmas!!!) whose leader was a retired naval captain and proceeded to teach us how to navigate over water. Char had just moved to LaGrange Park from Japan, where she had been living for quite a while. Her father, Lt. Col. OD (Oscar Dale) Graham, was assigned to Wash. DC to be schooled as our 5th attache to Russia at the time. Because we were in scouting, we had access to a lodge where we were able to winter sled down high hills to a creek that opened up to the Fox river. We cooked our food underground and above ground and built a bridge for the scout camp that was called "Bridge over the Creek kwi" Password to let one pass: Qwick over the kweek kwi. Char's father arranged for us to be at the Kennedy funeral and bural. Military took care of us as first class citizens and we attended the funeral and burial of JFK. She was one of my closest, special mind buddies.

Pam what a tragedy that teenagers hide the most compelling and interesting parts of themselves for fear of judgment.
