Paul had congenital heart problems, and died in (I believe) 1971 or '72 while undergoing heart surgery. He was an avid ham radio operator, call sign K9BCU. 73, Paul
Paul was indeed a good friend and loyal DeMolay brother. He always had a cheerful outlook and was an encouragement to others in spite of his physical challenges.
I first met Paul at Western Springs, McClure Jr. High. After LTHS, we attended Bradley University in Peoria, IL together. Paul got a bad break in life, right out of the starting gate; he was born with a hole in his heart – blue baby was the term. A series of operations eventually restored Paul to reasonably good health. At Bradley, Paul was serious and smart, earning his EE degree with honors. Paul also had a great fun loving side, and was not above performing crazy practical jokes. Paul's many positive personality dimensions greatly oversized his diminutive stature. Shortly after college graduation, a supposedly minor cleanup operation ended Paul's life.
